is qualified to build Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design certified homes, also known as LEED certified homes, a standard which is given by the United States Green Building Council (USGBC). LEED Certified recognition represents innovative designs built to last that are also environmentally friendly.
Fox Blocks Recycling
The benefits of the Fox Blocks recycling and molding process are multiple. The plastic resin is a main component that drives the costs of ICF products. The industry balances plastic content versus competitive costs in the market. Fox Blocks is delivering one of the highest ratios of recycled plastic weight to foam content in the industry at lower costs. A single source of recycled first-generation plastic and the molding of the fresh recycled plastic webs used in the manufacturing of foam ICF forms equals less cost for more consistent product strength, a key benefit to the on site contractor!
a home energy rating, which is an analysis of a home's energy performance that includes energy modeling with accredited software
the official number that comes from the rating. A home that just meets code has a HERS Index of 100. For every point above or below 100, the home is that many % less or more efficient than the same home built to code. For example, a home with a HERS Index of 70 is 30% more efficient than its code-built counterpart. In other words, lower numbers are better. A HERS Index of zero means it's a Net Zero Home (i.e., it produces as much energy as it uses each year).
AEC homes are far below the 100 and can more economically reach net zero because the structure or the bones of the house is so energy efficeient.
